Swalky Ltd is committed to protecting user’s personal information and privacy. This policy is aligned with our cookie policy which details how we manage users data on our website.

“We” and “Us” refers to the company “Swalky Ltd” and operator of “Swalky®”, meaning the principle business that owns and operates the Swalky® app portal, its associated services and member information services.

“App Portal” refers to Swalky® used by paid members and non-members.

How Swalky Manages your Data

This policy explains how we use your personal information in relation to delivering services on our iOS and Android mobile applications.

Please read this policy carefully to ensure you fully understand the terms. We will make you aware of any updates to this policy via email and list amendments on this page.

For the purposes of data protection law, the controller is Swalky®.

We only hold the information that is necessary to deliver our services. The information that our members provide us with when registering for an account is held on our database. This information may include/will include any information you add to your profile (for example, your name, date of birth, email address, lifestyle preferences, profile pictures and user name).

How we use your personal information

We use your personal information for the purposes below:
  • Providing our services to you
    • Providing you with social walking information and services that you request from us.
    • Allowing you to participate in events when you choose to do so.
    • Using your contact email address to respond to submitted enquiries.
  • Service improvement and account management
    • Ensuring that we deliver services in the most effective manner.
    • Undertaking administration, troubleshooting, and survey purposes.
    • Managing and operating your account with us.
  • Marketing and advertising
    • Using your profile photos and or information for promotional purposes. 
    • Delivering advertising that is relevant to Swalky® members.
    • Measuring and understanding the effectiveness of our advertising.

Sharing your personal information

We outsource our IT infrastructure to other UK based companies, in order to store membership data efficiently and securely. Your personal information may be shared with third parties in the following circumstances:

Analytics and search engine providers: to help us improve our services

Non-personal data is shared with search engines to help us improve and optimise our services. The information is shared in a form that does not directly identify you.

 

We may also share your personal information with third parties for the following reasons:

To comply with legal obligations

We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law, or in response to a request from law enforcement, or another regulatory authority. We may disclose your personal information to enforce our agreements with you or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Swalky members. This includes sharing personal information with other organisations for criminal prevention purposes.

Storing your personal information

We store your data on an Amazon Web Services (AWS) secure cloud server, which is managed by our host 3SDSML Ltd and is fully compliant with GDPR and PCI Data Security Standards (PCI DSS). Our hosting company have implemented physical, administrative and technical measures designed to protect your Personal Data from unauthorised access, use or disclosure. We do not store member’s financial information. Our payment-processing provider (Stripe) undertakes password encryption of credit card information for in-app purchases.

Transmission of information over the Internet is not completely secure, so we cannot guarantee its security during the transmission process, which is undertaken at your own risk.

 

We keep your personal information for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is processed. These periods vary depending on the nature of the information and your interactions with us. You can disable, or delete your account in the app using the account settings menu, or if you would like us to delete it for you, please contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

 

The Swalky app contains a ‘remember me’ feature which when selected will save email addresses for future sessions. By opting in users are providing their consent for us to do this.

Your rights

Data protection law gives you the right to access your personal information, to object to the use of your personal information for certain purposes. You can erase, restrict or receive a machine-readable copy of your personal information. You can access your personal information via the profile function of the app.

We will handle your request in accordance with the law. This means there may be legal reasons why we cannot fulfil all requests.
